Home theater seating is reclining furniture built for movie rooms: power or manual recliners joined into rows, with lighted cupholders, LED baselighting and options like heat and massage or zero-gravity recline. 4seating curates Seatcraft and Cavallo theater seats in rows of 2 to 5, plus single recliners, sofas and sectionals, for dedicated theaters and multipurpose media rooms.
Shop home theater seating by type and feature
Whether you are planning home cinema seating for a dedicated room or a family media room, most theaters start with a row, then add the comfort features you will use every night. Narrow the grid above with these collections:
- Single theater recliners: start a row, add a seat, fill a corner or set up a reading chair.
- Home theater sofas and sectionals: media room seating with theater features, for rooms that double as living space.
- Heat and massage theater seating: seats with built-in heat and massage for long sessions.
- Zero gravity theater seating: a recline that raises your legs into an ergonomic, neutral position.
- SoundShaker bass shaker seats: a built-in transducer vibrates the seat in sync with the on-screen action.
- Power headrest theater seating: adjust head support at the touch of a button.
- Back row theater seating: taller BACKROW Theater Seating® lets a second row see over the first.
- Home theater risers: SoundRight riser platforms in 7" and 14" heights for tiered rooms.
- Commercial theater seating: free-standing movie seats and multi-row riser packages for screening rooms and venues.
How to choose home theater seating
1. Measure the wall, then choose the seat count
Measure the wall your row will sit against and compare it with typical row widths. Most models on this page come in rows of 2, 3, 4 or 5 seats, with loveseat and sofa configurations available.
| Row size | Typical row width | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 2 seats | 61–72" | Couples, dens and smaller media rooms |
| 3 seats | 85–103" | Most family theaters |
| 4 seats | 109–135" | Dedicated theaters and basement builds |
Wallhugger models need only about 6–7" behind the seat to recline fully. Short on width? Spacesaver models such as the Napa drop the in-arm storage for a slimmer arm, which trims total row width by over 10%.
2. Pick the upholstery
- Italian leather: hand-picked from the top 30% of hides for a supple, lustrous finish that improves with age and simple care.
- Leather gel: the look and feel of full-grain leather at a strong value, on models like the 12006 and Dynasty.
- Performance fabric: breathable, durable comfort on models like the Cavallo Haven and the Catalina FX, which pairs fabric seats with Italian leather arms.
3. Add the features you will actually use
Many models include power recline, LED cupholders, baselighting and USB charging. From there, choose heat and massage, zero-gravity recline, SoundShaker tactile audio, powered headrest and lumbar, or Big & Tall frames for taller viewers.
How do you add a second row of theater seats?
There are two ways to give a second row a clear view of the screen: set a standard row on a riser platform, or choose BACKROW Theater Seating®, which is built taller so rear viewers can see over the front row without a riser.
Risers suit rooms where you want the classic stepped cinema look. SoundRight platforms come in 7" and 14" heights, and the 14" platform offers an optional riser step. BACKROW seats skip that construction: the Rialto BACKROW, for example, sits 6" taller than a standard Rialto. For the front, FRONTROW Theater Seating® versions of the Rialto and Grenada sit low to the ground so the row behind keeps a full view.
Either way, plan the front row first, then match the back row's width, model and color. Our design team can help you lay out both rows before you order.
