A zero gravity couch is a power reclining sofa that tilts into a position where your legs are raised and your weight is designed to spread across the seat and backrest. This collection has seven zero gravity sofas from Seatcraft, and each is offered as a loveseat, a sofa or a sofa and loveseat set.
Zero Gravity Sofas & Loveseats
The lineup is the Anthem LT, Armada LT, Trivanta and Endeavour HeatZeroᵀᴹ sofas, the Luminis 365 HeatZeroᵀᴹ and its Big & Tall version, and the Virtuoso 365 HeatZeroᵀᴹ. All seven add heat and massage, an adjustable power headrest and adjustable power lumbar to the recline. For single seats, rows and chaises with the same position, see our zero gravity theater seating.
What is a Zero Gravity Sofa?
A standard recliner tilts back. A zero gravity sofa goes further, raising your knees and legs while the backrest follows the curve of your back, so your weight is designed to spread across the seat and backrest instead of resting in one spot.
The name is NASA-inspired. It borrows the relaxed neutral body posture NASA documented for astronauts in weightlessness. 4Seating's sofas aren't NASA-designed, tested or endorsed, just built on the same idea. Power recline means the position is set with a button, and power models plug into a standard 110v wall outlet. A licensed electrician can add an outlet near a zero-gravity sofa.
Key Benefits: What the Zero Gravity Position Is Designed to Do
The position is designed to hold your body in a relaxed, reclined posture, which suits a long movie, and every sofa in this collection pairs it with heat and massage. Zero-gravity models with heat and massage are designed to warm the seat and backrest and add a pulsing movement.
The adjustable power headrest is designed to bring your eye line back toward the screen when you're fully reclined, and the adjustable power lumbar is designed to let you set how far the lower back of the seat presses forward. These are comfort features, and how the position feels varies from person to person and sofa to sofa.
Types Available
Each model comes as a zero gravity loveseat, a zero gravity reclining sofa, or a sofa and loveseat set. Sofa widths run from 80" on the Luminis 365 and Virtuoso 365 to 86.5" on the Trivanta, with the Luminis 365 HeatZeroᵀᴹ Big & Tall at 92.5". A loveseat suits a smaller room, and a three-seat sofa or a full set suits a larger one.
If you searched for a zero wall reclining sofa or a zero clearance reclining loveseat, the figure to read is wall clearance, the distance the sofa needs from the wall to recline fully. It is 2" on the Luminis 365, 3.5" on the Armada LT, 4" on the Trivanta, Endeavour and Virtuoso 365, and 4.5" on the Anthem LT and the Big & Tall. Across Seatcraft theater seating models, wallhugger clearance runs about 3" to 6.5".
Features to Look For
Charging and storage differ by model. The Anthem LT and Armada LT list USB-A and USB-C ports in each LED cupholder. The Trivanta and Endeavour list them in each armrest, and the Luminis 365 lists two per seat. The Trivanta, Endeavour, Luminis 365, Virtuoso 365 and Big & Tall descriptions each mention a fold-down center table with wireless charging, and all seven list in-arm storage and 7-color LED lighting.
Upholstery is Italian Leather on the Anthem LT, Armada LT, Trivanta and Endeavour, and Leather on the Luminis 365. The Virtuoso 365 and Big & Tall descriptions say leather. The Anthem LT, Trivanta, Endeavour and Luminis 365 each list 350 lbs. per seat and the Armada LT lists 360 lbs. per seat on their Specifications tabs.
Zero Gravity Sofas for Everyday Relaxation
These sofas work for a living room as well as a dedicated media room. Compare widths and wall clearance first, then pick a color from the option list on each product page.
How to Choose Zero Gravity Sofas
1. Pick a comfort package
All seven share the zero gravity position, heat and massage, a power headrest and power lumbar, so the choice is about the extras. The table groups them by series using each model's product data.
| Series | What it adds | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| HeatZeroᵀᴹ LT | USB-A and USB-C in each LED cupholder, 7-color LED lighting, 85" to 85.5" sofa, 3.5" to 4.5" wall clearance | Anthem LT, Armada LT |
| HeatZeroᵀᴹ with armrest charging | USB-A and USB-C in each armrest, fold-down center table with wireless charging, 86" to 86.5" sofa, 4" wall clearance | Trivanta, Endeavour |
| 365 series | Leather, fold-down table with a wireless charging pad, 80" sofa, 2" to 4" wall clearance | Luminis 365, Virtuoso 365 |
| Big & Tall | 92.5" sofa, 79.5" loveseat and a 44" listed seat height | Luminis 365 HeatZeroᵀᴹ Big & Tall |
2. Pick a layout
Choose a loveseat for two, a sofa for three, or a sofa and loveseat set for five. Check the width against your wall and keep walkways beyond the full recline figure, which is 66" to 71.5" on the models that list it.
3. Pick an upholstery and color
Color choices vary by model, from Black, Brown, Gray, Navy Blue, Red, Smokey Blue, Tawny and Tobacco to Ebony and Chestnut on the 365 series. Sample swatches are available for many upholstery options.
