A media lounge sofa, sometimes called a lounge couch, is a media room couch made for long viewing: deep seats, chaise footrests, ottomans you can attach and, on some models, consoles, cupholders or power recline. This collection includes modular lounge sofas, loveseats, chaise sectionals and cuddle seats, for a dedicated media room or a living room that doubles as one.
About Media Room Sofas by 4Seating
The products here come in three shapes. Sofas and loveseats, such as the Wilshire and Diamante lines, are straight pieces with optional ottomans. Sectionals, from L-shaped sets to 12-piece U-shaped pits, fill more of a room. Cuddle seats are wide single chairs. If you are shopping for a theater sofa and want the wider range, including sofas with recliner seats, browse theater couches and sofas; this page is for lounge couches built around the chaise.
Features of Modern Media Room Sofas
The common thread is the chaise position: a long, supported seat with a footrest, so you can stretch out without a recliner mechanism. Wilshire, Diamante and Fortuna add a matching ottoman option and an optional glass tray table, and Diamante and Fortuna list matching kidney pillows, which are small cushions that support the lower back. The Diamante Modular Home Theater Sofa Console Table lists console tables and storage in the armrests. The Haven dual chaise lounge is a couch lounge built around padded chaise footrests.
Power is limited to a few models. The Seatcraft Cadence, Seatcraft Carlsbad, Haven dual chaise lounge and Solis FX L-Sectional list power recline and an adjustable power headrest, which is designed to angle the head support toward the screen. The Carlsbad also lists USB ports in the power switches, a fold-down table with USB and a padded storage console. Power models plug into a standard 110v wall outlet.
Lounge Sofas for a Living Room That Doubles as a Media Room
If the room is also where you live, choose a lounge sofa for how it sits with your other furniture. Fabric choices such as Fortuna in Ash or Onyx, Heavenly in Onyx or Chocolate and Haven in Aria Onyx / Dove read like living room upholstery, while the Italian leather Haven and the Diamante Modular Home Theater Sofa Console Table come in darker colors such as Black, Tobacco and Smokey Blue. A 104", 120" or 132" Haven or a 110" Wilshire works as a TV couch or lounging couch against one wall, and a Heavenly loveseat at 90" suits a smaller space.
Build Quality and Materials in Movie Lounge Sofas
Wilshire, Diamante and Fortuna pair 2.2 high-density foam with pocketed sinuous coiled springs, which are designed to resist premature foam breakdown, in a kiln-dried wood frame. The fabric Seatcraft Cuddle Seat lists 1.8 density foam, and the swivel cuddle seats list 2.2. Italian leather is listed on Wilshire, Diamante, Haven, Cadence and the Italian Leather Cuddle Seat, and the Carlsbad uses leather gel, a different material from Italian leather. Wilshire and Diamante list 450 lbs. per seat. On media lounge sofas, the 1-year limited warranty on Seatcraft seating can grow to 5 years with the optional Guardian 5-Year Protection Plan.

The chairs in this collection are cuddle seats, wide single seats with room for two. The fabric Seatcraft Cuddle Seat is 60" wide and lists 300 lbs., and the Italian Leather Cuddle Seat is listed as seating 2 adults or 3 kids. The swivel versions add a 360-degree swivel and list 400 lbs. per seat. For more of these, see cuddle furniture; for a recliner that is a single seat, see single theater recliners.
How to Choose Media Room Couches
1. Pick a style and a size
Start with how many people sit on it and how much wall you have. The table lists the sizes that appear in the product data.
| Style | Sizes from the product data | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Straight lounge sofas | 104", 120" and 132" on Haven and Symphony; 110" on Wilshire and Diamante | Haven Lounge Media Room Furniture, Wilshire Home Theater Modular Chaise Sofa |
| Rows of 2, 3 or 4 | Diamante: 85", 124" and 163"; Fortuna: 78" for 2 and 110" for 3 | Diamante Modular Home Theater Room Seating, Fortuna Home Theater Seating Sofa Sectional |
| Loveseats | 90" on the Heavenly loveseat | Seatcraft Heavenly Modular Sofa Fabric, Black, or Brown |
| Sectionals | 5- to 12-piece sets in L, U and pit layouts | Wilshire U Shaped Home Theater Room Sectional, Diamante Home Theater U Shaped Sectional Pit |
| Cuddle seats | 60" wide on the fabric Seatcraft Cuddle Seat | Seatcraft Cuddle Seat, Fabric, Swivel Cuddle Seat Home Theater Furniture |
2. Pick a layout
A straight sofa or loveseat is the simplest fit for one wall. An L-shape wraps a corner, and a U-shape or pit gives the room a center. Measure the space and the doorways first, and check the Dimensions tab for any model that reclines.
3. Pick upholstery and power
Most lounge sofas here are chaise-position pieces with no recline mechanism listed, so choose a power model only if you want recline. Then compare fabric and Italian leather, and request sample swatches, which are available for many upholstery options.
